Petite Friture : great expectations.
Petite Friture (an expression that refers to small fish) is a French design manufacturer. Founded by Amélie du Passage in 2009, its philosophy is simple yet ambitious: supporting young designers and promoting affordable goods. Within the past few years, Petite Friture has thus launched a series of eclectic and poetic objects endowed with an enduring power of fascination. Among them, Alix Thomsen's ceramic bowls, adorned with delicate flowery patterns, are a perfect example of Petite Friture's highly covetable production (Thomsen is also a renowned fashion designer, but this first attempt at tableware is quite convincing).
As for the pitch-black glass bottles imagined by Gaëlle Gabillet and Stéphane Villard (Objets 2822), their mysterious grace also conveys an ecological message, encouraging you to replace plastic containers by more lasting objects.
But one of the manufacturer's most emblematic pieces is certainly Francis, the compellingly beautiful pigment-stained mirror designed by Constance Guisset. Reconciling function and aesthetic appeal, it reminds us that good design is not just about useful objects : it is also meant to make you experience beauty.
